Whence Quaker Publishing: a discussion
QUIP members don’t have to wait for annual meetings to discuss the future of publishing. A lively discussion among Friends with a passion for the ministry of the written word takes place regularly on Quaker blogs and through other materials posted to the web. Here are three places to look:
- Johan Maurer recently posted three blogs challenging Friends to look closely at what they are publishing, to consider more than our own needs and break out of our comfortable space of talking to one another at his blog.
- QUIP co-clerk, Charles Martin, recently spoke at San Francisco Meeting about his ministry of publishing Quaker texts, how he discerned his leading to publish, how he prepared, and where he is now with his publishing endeavour, Inner Light Books. Read his notes for his talk.
- Alex Wildwood of Britain Yearly Meeting gave a talk to QUIP members gathered at Glenthorne in the English Lake District called, Authentic Leadings: the making of a Quaker author. Similar to Charles Martin, he shared his discernment process and spiritual growth to seeing his “writing as ministry.” Read his talk.
